Frequently Asked Questions

What is Mevoked?

We are building a behavior analytics platform to correlate online/mobile data to mental health wellness. Technology has become an integral part of our lives that can provide insight into how a person is feeling. With Mevoked for Mothers, we plan on focusing on identifying the signs of stress and anxiety in new and expecting mothers. Using this information we plan on getting them the help they need to stay healthy.

What are the correlations between online/mobile behavior and mental wellness?

With the increased dependence on technology, we are exhibiting behavior that is best captured from the devices we use. To simplify this, think about how Google advertises content (tracking usage, behavior, searches etc). We use similar technology to better understand the “state of the mind” of the user. If you put all these data points together you have patterns of behavior. Mevoked will capture these patterns to help new mothers identify worrisome behavior. There is great research done in the field, and here are a few snippets with their sources.

  1. “….the relative risk of depression for those who used the Internet pathologically was about 21?2 times (incidence rate ratio,2.5;95%confidence interval,1.3-4.3) that of those who did not exhibit the targeted pathological internet use behaviors. “

  2. “High frequency of mobile phone use at baseline was a risk factor for mental health outcomes ”

  3. “Clinically, we are seeing an increase in symptoms typically associated with anxiety and depression, but that improve when a child unplugs at night.”

Why should I use Mevoked?

We want to help you, the mother, feel better peri + postpartum. Having a child is a huge deal and tons of changes come along with that. It is easy to feel overwhelmed. That's where Mevoked can help. Mevoked for Mothers is used to monitor your online behavior so that it can intervene when you're feeling down, and also to reinforce positive behaviors, like getting enough sleep instead of browsing on your phone.

What do you mean by online behavior?

There are two types of online behavior, adaptive and maladaptive.

  1. Adaptive or Positive behavior: Actions by a person that are congruent with their cognitions and emotions that promote healthy functioning in all aspects of life (social, occupational, educational, legal, familial, and basic needs--shelter, food, self-care).
  2. Maladaptive or Negative behavior: Actions by a person that create problems in aspects of their life (as above) due to faulty cognitions (i.e. I'm undeserving, I'm bad) or lacking recognition of the full spectrum of emotions (I.e. closed off to feeling sadness)

Mevoked’s goal is to capture both behaviors in real-time and make this data engaging and insightful.

Why should I connect my social media to Mevoked? What will this do?

Social media interactions are a great way to analyze how a mother is feeling. It shows how she is interacting with the world. If given access to your Facebook and/or Twitter data, we will look at posts, likes, shares, and retweets. We will never share your data with anyone else and Mevoked is not allowed to post on your behalf.

I am looking at the dashboard. What does this information mean?

The big smiley shows the "online browsing behavior" of the user in real-time. For more information on how we define behavior refer to Question(3). The smaller smiley shows the summarized daily state. The data spans the whole week, with the current day on the right. If you click on the smaller smiley the dashboard will pull up all the data for that day.

What is the line graph?

If you scroll further down you will see a line graph. There are three important components to this part of the dashboard. Online browsing behavior as defined here is shown in 3 hour intervals. You can see the impact of the content the user is consuming in real-time. If you click on the data points of the graph, a popup will show the split of data tracked into five buckets. The major buckets are violence, sexual, drugs/substances, and mental health. Other data available include the amount of URLs, searches, and social interactions processed and the ones that we have flagged. This data will help you understand in a single view the type of content you've been consuming and how much.

What does the "Flagged Content" tab mean?

The second tab "Flagged Content" allows you to view the articles we consider most worrisome. This is a list of negative based articles that update in real-time. If you would like to see the larger list, press the "More" button. This will take you to a more detailed analytics page. Mevoked is constantly learning and sometimes we display articles that shouldn't be there. You can delete these from view, and our engine will learn your preferences. These articles are also classified into buckets. The major buckets are violence, sexual, drugs/substances, and mental health. This data will help you understand in a single view the type of content you are consuming at an article level.

We also encourage positive behavior and one bucket we include is “Positive Articles”. If things are going well, you should be aware of that too!

What does the "Emotions" tab mean?

Mevoked figures out the emotional relevance of the content to the user. In order to do this we break down the content consumed into seven basic emotions. An example could be content that made the user 'Optimistic', that would be a combination of "Happy" + "Surprised". We would classify 'Cautiously Optimistic' as "Happy" + "Surprised" + "Anxious". This information is extremely important to helping us determine dangerous/worrisome patterns with the clinical side of our application.

What are these interactive emails?

At Mevoked we pride ourselves in creating a seamless process for users. To make our solution better collecting observational data is important. All our alerts come with the ability for the user to give us observational data that can further improve the ability of Mevoked. If you feel like sharing please do, it will help us get better and your data is safe. As mentioned in our Privacy Policy no one else has access to that information but you and your care team. You can adjust the number of emails you want to see by going to the Account Setting tab in the Dashboard.

What is self-tracking?

Sometimes the Mevoked engine doesn't catch it when you're feeling an emotion strongly. If this is the case, simply click on the extension at the top of your browser and select "Self Tracking." This will trigger the emotion popup that will ask you how you are feeling and track it for you. This is really useful for helping the tool learn to recognize your emotions better.

How do I change my password?

If you want to change your password or have forgotten your password, simply to go the Mevoked dashboard sign in page and click "Forgot Password?" to reset. An email will be sent to you prompting for a new password.

How do I delete my account?

We are definitely sad to see you go. To stop using Mevoked for Mothers, simply disable and then uninstall the extension from your browser. This will stop our system from being able to collect any data. If you would like to collect your data, or have it deleted from our systems, please email us at contact@mevoked.com.
